Electrician

As the name suggests, ITI Electrician trade focuses on various aspects of electricity such as – wiring (residential, commercial and industrial), home appliances, electrical machines, lighting, electrical installations etc. The main aim of this trade is to provide vocational training to candidates and turn them into qualified electricians! The course thus aims at developing a skilled work-force of qualified electricians in India.

Electrician trade in areas such as:

  • Wiring (residential, commercial and industrial)
  • Lighting installation (residential, commercial and outdoors)
  • Power generation, distribution and transmission systems Insulators
  • Earthing
  • Capacitors and electrical circuits
  • Batteries
  • Working, servicing and repair of electrical appliances (motors, fans, pumps, home appliances, AC, fridge etc)
  • Transformers
  • AC/DC systems

Deck Rating

Pre-sea training (Deck-Rating):

The training program is designed for the candidates who are desirous of perusing a career in the Deck category in merchant shipping and ought to become Deck officers or Navigation officers.

ELIGIBILITY:

10th,12th pass (Art/ Commerce/ Science) from recognized board. English should have been one of the subjects Medically fit (+ or – 2.5 eye vision is acceptable) without color blindness. Age: Above 17.5 to 25 years

Course Outline

Introduction to the shipping industry, Familiarization with deck department of the ship, Deck safety, Navigation, Metrology, Watchkeeping duties, Search & Rescue operations, Flag Signals & codes, Life-saving appliances, Survival at Sea, Swimming, Personality development, English & Computer etc.

Certificates Provided

Candidates after successfully accomplishing the training program will be awarded the course certificate, by the academy approved by Director-General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface, and Transport Govt. of India. INDO’S, Indian CDC, STCW Certificates and from BSS Diploma certificate Ship Safety Management, Diploma Certificate in Ship Stability

In inclusion to the above candidate will be posted as Ordinary Seaman (Sal: 200$ -250$) , after completion of 12 months of sea experience, Promoted as AB (Sal: 400$-600$) and after completion of 18 months Sea experience promoted as BOSUN [Sal: 800$ - 1200$]

36-months sea experience, Promoted as Deck Officer / 3rd Officer [Sal: 1500$ - 2000$]

For the further 2 years sea experience as 3rd officer and after passing out 2nd mate exam. Promoted to 2nd officer (Sal:2000$-2500$)

Further sea experience 2 years & passing exam, Chief Officer [Sal: 3000$ - 5000$]

G.P. RATING

The General Purpose (GP) Rating Course was introduced on request from the Shipping Industry, in order to ensure enhanced & multiple utilities of ratings, onboard vessels belonging to shipping companies, worldwide. Accordingly, the erstwhile Deck Rating and Engine Rating courses were adapted to the new guidelines, and the concept of "General Purpose Rating" was introduced by the Directorate. Course Name: 6 months pre-sea course for General Purpose Rating

Course Duration: 6 Months Minimum Academic Qualification: Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard from a recognized Board with Science, Mathematics as subjects and with minimum 40% marks in the English language either in the 10th, 12th, or diploma/degree exam.

Maximum Age limit: Between 17.5 to 25 years.

Course Name: 6 Month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose Rating for Fitters/Petty Officers.

Course Duration: 6 Months
Minimum Academic Qualification: 10TH, 12th pass (PCM), from a recognized board

Maximum Age limit: Between 17.5 to 25 years.

Medical Fitness: Candidate for admission to marine courses (DG, Shipping-approved courses) are required to produce a certificate for medical fitness by authorities authorized by the Director-General of Shipping.

Eyesight: Medically fit (eye vision + or – 2.5 allowed) with no colour blindness

Fitter

Fire Technology

Directorate General of Training (DGT) under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship offers range of vocational training courses catering to the need of different sectors of economy/ Labour market. The vocational training programmes are delivered under aegis of National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT). Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) and Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS) are two pioneer programmes of NCVT for propagating vocational training. ͚Fire Technology and Industrial Safety Management͛ trade under CTS is one of the popular courses delivered nationwide through network of ITIs. The course is of one year (02 semester) duration. It mainly consists of Domain area and Core area. The Domain area (Trade Theory & Practical) impart professional skills and knowledge, while Core area (Employability Skills) imparts requisite core skill & knowledge and life skills. After passing out the training programme, the trainee is being awarded National Trade Certificate (NTC) by NCVT having worldwide recognition. Candidates need broadly to demonstrate that they are able to:

  • Read and interpret technical parameters/ documents, plan and organize work processes, identify necessary materials and tools;
  • Perform task with due consideration to safety rules, accident prevention regulations and environmental protection stipulations;
  • Apply professional skill, knowledge & employability skills while performing jobs.
  • Document the technical parameters related to the task undertaken. 2.2 CAREER PROGRESSION PATHWAYS
  • Can join Apprenticeship programme in different types of industries leading to National Apprenticeship certificate (NAC).
  • Can join Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) in the trade for becoming instructor in ITIs.
